When I was connected with AOL by dial-up, using Internet Explorer, this 
happened all the time, too. I thought it was a reminder for folks who 
paid hourly for the service and did not want to stay connected when 
doing chores not needing the internet. I at the time resolved it by 
contacting AOL, but can't remember the procedure I went through,
