Wanted to follow up to let you know what I discovered on this. I had been
getting an error on almost every web page I tried to access saying the
server couldn't be found. If I tried to connect a second or third time it
would usually connect.

As it turned out it wasn't a problem with our ISP - I seemed to be the only
one here that was having problems. I tried Schoun's suggestion of using a
manual DNS number and this wouldn?t let me connect to anything at all for
some strange reason.

I then read Ward?s suggestion and, you know, sometimes it just gets back to
simple, basic maintenance. I ran the disk utility but no luck, then I
remembered that it had been awhile since I?d been into terminal and ran the
commands below. That did the trick. I just did an install of Panther
followed by the 10.3.3 upgrade on another machine and guess what? I had the
same problem. I then realized that my machine had started exhibiting this
strange behavior shortly after I had upgraded. I don?t know if this was just
coincidence or if there is some file in the system that needs to be removed
after the upgrade to keep IE functioning properly. I always run disk utility
before installing any upgrades, but never thought to run these as well.

Oh, and those magical commands?
sudo sh /etc/daily
sudo sh /etc/weekly
sudo sh /etc/monthly

Since my machine stays on all week, I?m pretty sure the daily one runs on
it?s own, but I do shut it down on the weekends and I?m not sure if the
weekly and monthly ones ever run.

Anyway, maybe this will help someone else out down the road. It always seems
to be the simple solution I overlook and figure my problem is going to be
much more involved than it has to be.
