Dan.
Did you run Disk Warrior from the DW CD first?
What were the results?
Did you back up your data?
If so, did the file show up on the backup?
Do you have Virtual Memory turned on?
How much RAM do you have in this machine?
What apps are being used on this machine?
What is the name of the file?
Info Dan. Geeks want info. Info helps us help you.

>From my perspective, it sounds like a Virtual Memory file or other temporary
file gone wild. You've probably seen the late night commercials on TechTV,
"Gigabytes Gone Wild!!"
You might try turning off Virtual Memory and attempting a delete then.
Seriously though, Disk Warrior and a good backup would be best practice
here.
Then we won't see the email, "Does anyone know how to retrieve data after
the directory has been corrupted?"
New mantra for Dan....
"Disk Warrior...Disk Warrior...Disk Warrior...and backup......"
