Hey folks,

Lee's suggestion was nearly right, but didn't quite work, because
iTunes won't connect to the localhost as a server. The good news is
that his ssh-tunneling solution gave me the proper key words to search
some more. The solution is out there - it is even on Macosxhints, which
I had already searched, but I hadn't found it.

Here's what to do:

1. Download Network Beacon from
http://www.chaoticsoftware.com/ProductPages/NetworkBeacon.html

2. Go to the hint at
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20030602094254826

3. Skip the original hint, because it has some problems. Instead,
search the page for "option works". You'll get to a long hint posted by
ecammit.

4. Follow the instructions, but be careful, because there are 2 changes
in the instructions. Both the changes are farther along in the
discussion, but I'll put them here for ease of use:
4.a. 127.0.0.1 should be used instead of 'localhost' when setting up
the ssh tunnel. The latter doesn't work well.
4.b. 4689 should be used instead of 3689 when the client wants to share
also (this is in ecammit's next post).

I'm now happily able to take the iTunes from Work and listen on
multiple computers at home. The password protection works, which is
good because it allows me to pick and choose who can listen to music at
work.

Thanks to Lee for the help. His little example got me to understand the
ssh tunneling and got the proper sequence of words to find the full
solution.

Bill

Postscript: For a single computer, Lee's solution was nearly right, but
because of the localhost restriction, it needed to have another
computer through which the tunnel ran (ugh). The
