Can you take a laptop and burn dvds?

If you go with the storage devices, get a 150W power convertor that
plugs into your cigarette lighter, (uh, make that your 'power tap' for
modern cars) and use that to power the device while doing the transfer.
You can pick these convertors up at places like Staples or Office Max
dirt cheap. A device like the Belkin one, for reasons known only to
Belkin does not use the FireWire interface to transfer the files but
uses the USB interface, so it is very slow and will drain the iPod's
battery. In fact trying to copy a little 'ol 1GB card to the iPod will
kill the iPod's battery before the transfer is complete. Most of the
digital wallets are pretty decent but check carefully their reliability
ratings and their storage capacity - 40 GB is not really as big as it
seems.

Laptops can be a bit bulky if you are going to be backpacking for
several days. The digital wallets take less space, but carry extra
batteries for them as well.

Someday, I will come up with a clever signature line. I am not sure if
I will use it or not, but I will come up with one.
