Anyone have any idea why my iPod no longer shows up on my Mac's desktop when I
connect it to the computer?

I haven't used it in a while, but I know that it used to show up when I was
using OS 9 and it's songs and playlists used to automatically appear in iTunes
when it was connected. Now: It doesn't mount on the desktop and iTunes doesn't
seem to recognize it.

I downloaded the latest iPod software last night, but I can't install it on the
iPod because the computer doesn't seem to know that the iPod is connected --
the "Update" button on the installer is grayed out.

Powerbook G4, OS 10.2.4, iPod software version 1.2, iTunes v. 3.0.1.

Thanks.

Dan
