The mail server that your email goes out on is currently not responding.

In postal terms, you've put the letter in your mailbox, you've raised the
red-flag, but the mailman hasn't shown up yet to pick it up.

Chances are the next time you send an email/go-online, it'll get sent.

[in fact, smtp.aye.net appears to be back up, so should go through now]
