Hmm, you might like this one also for your grandkids (or yourself!)

It is a race car simulation program (game) that is pretty realistic in 
that it uses realistic physics and technical data information about the 
cars. It also has many downloads (other cars, tracks, etc. -- one of 
them is a track somewhere in "Kentucky - Appalachia"). I have worked 
some with the developer on implementing joystick controls (you can use 
the keyboard if you like) and hopefully he will be able to incorporate 
the force-feed back stuff for OS-10.2.3 and later (force feedback is 
where the joystick fights back, just like the steering wheel would you 
were were really driving).
