Ward may know more, but here's what I know. Mac OS X does not have a logical volume manager that can let you split a volume across several disks and dynamically resize them, as in Linux and many Unix flavors. There are some LVM functions in the RAID supported by OS X server. Veritas made noise about porting their Volume Manager over to OS X server when it was first introduced. I've heard nothing about it from them since then. It would not surprise me if Apple introduced kernel extensions to do this. -- Lee Larson, Mathematics Department, University of Louisville Phone: 502-852-6826 FAX: 502-852-7132 | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be January 28.
