I have a beige desktop G3. It has an OrangeMicro USB/Firewire PCI card, and a Sonnet G3 500mhz zip upgrade. I partitioned it into 6G for OS X and 3G for OS 9. OS 9.2 is installed in the 2nd partition.
I have tried installing the OS X into the first partition unsuccessfully many, many times. I have tried with foreign fonts and BSD not included and the full installation. The screen goes blank and everything stops processing. I am not able to reactivate the screen, so I turn off the computer. When I try to install again it says "You have selected to upgrade ...." I have selected the upgrade option and the erase disk option. Same results. Finally a successful installation. On restarting, it begins the spinning below the gray apple and stops. In the upper left hand corner is "sh-2.05a#". I can actually type on the screen. I have use Norton Disk Doctor. Everything is ok, but not with me. | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be January 28. The LCS Web page is <http://www.kymac.org>.
