To offer the other side, I am a cable user whyo would prefer to use Iglou's DSL. I've not had bad service from them, though I have noticed their 24/7 support not answering at midnight.
Cable/dsl speed is usually dependant on number of cable users around you. Iglou have a nice deal in which you get 4 static ip's for only 10 dollars more than the basic package. Insight seem to own the cable market, and they're terrible. Best hting I had suggested to me was: internet is communication. dsl companies are basically old phone companys, in fact iglou are an internet service company selling on top of a phone company [bell south]. cable however are tv companies. tv is just a question of pushing single direction down a pipe. cable companies don't get the internet. now, that may have been a biast view, but cable does seem to suffer from more of the idjit admin style methods. ie) blocking all port 80s, forcing you to go around the houses if you have a router etc. It's improved from what I can tell though. Can you even get iglou dsl in your area? I couldn't, thus am a rather grumpy cable user. I hate dealing with cable tv companies. Then agian, I get 10 bucks a month off the cable modem if I buy enough channels. Hen On Mon, 6 May 2002, Brian O'Neal wrote: > > Had problems with iglou, poor service and support.
