I think this was a change in prompts between 10.1.3 and 10.1.4. You're 
still running the tcsh, I'd bet.

The first prompt used 'localhost' for the machine name which would be 
used if you were not attached to any network. The newer prompt is using 
the name of your machine on the network. If no network exists (like for 
my machine at home), localhost will still be the name of the machine.

I'd bet there was some change to one of the mysterious built in files 
(something in /etc/termcap or something).

No - you're fine. Since the process viewer sez that you're running tcsh, 
this is the shell which is working in the terminal.
