You don't have to use the Microsoft fonts. I use the Apple/Adobe Times instead of Microsoft's Times New Roman and Apple/Adobe Helvetica instead of Arial in my browser. I've removed both Times New Roman and Arial from my system. I did this because I want to use Times instead of Times New Roman in documents, and I was always making the mistake of choosing TNR intead.
