Hello All,

Well, this Mac person has a PC problem.

(Yes, I own one of those things. It's because I design web sites and need to
see what it looks like in both enviornments....but we ALL know which computer
I love the most!)

Lately the PC has begun to run as slow as molasses. I've tried defragging it,
but that doesn't help. Several have said the time has come to back up my
info, clean off the hard drive and reinstall the programs and data.

So I bought a firewire card, installed it and hooked up my CD burner, ready
to back stuff up. And, now I can't find my Windows 98 disk.

(Has anyone ever heard of Microsoft building in a self-distruct mechanism, so
the programs just vaporize after awhile? Then, you'd have to buy a new
one...hummmmm.)

Anyway, assuming I can find my disk, how does one back up a PC hard drive,
wipe it clean, and restore all the information so it works?

I hope someone out there can help with this. Perhaps there are other closet
PC owners who might need this information.

See you all at the meeting tonight.

TIA,
Jane Blake

The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will be May 28.
