Got my copy of iLife '06 today. Here is my (Ultra) quick review/first impressions:
iPhoto: the main reason that i bought this new version. It's a big improvement. Speed seems much better on a 1.2GHz G4 iBook with 756mb RAM. the new full screen edit mode, as well as the "effects" panel are great. Photos are finally organized in a somewhat coherent manner in Finder too! iPhoto alone is worth the price i paid for the suite (it would have been $59 with the EDU discount, but since i bought the refurb iBook, i got the whole iLife '06 suite, using the Up-To-Date program for $9.95!!!) iWeb seems to be pretty nice. i've used dreamweaver in the past, and granted it can do a ******LOT****** more than iWeb, for simple stuff it's great. The general looks are more professional than RapidWeaver, and i really like the glass/reflection effect for the photos. overall, it's a kind of cute little program, not a whole lot of productivity there, but it should make some of those "Hi, my name is Rick. I like cats." type websites a little spiffier. more to come as a get further into the programs... Rick (BTW, if anyone wants, i've got a set of iLife '05 install disks that came with the Powerbook, that i'm obviously not going to use now) | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be January 24 at Pitt Academy, 6010 Preston Highway. | The LCS Web page is <http://www.kymac.org>. | List posting address: <mailto:macgroup at erdos.math.louisville.edu> | List Web page: <http://erdos.math.louisville.edu/macgroup>
