yeah, i tried to use the included software once, and never again.
what a headache.

Discus is really nice for designing everything from the discs
themselves to the sleeve cover, etc.

although, i admit that i rarely used any of the numerous stock images/
designs that Discus supplies.
But, the ease of design and the drag and drop ability from iPhoto
thumbnails (easy even on a 12" screen, with expose) have been wonderful.

I believe that there is a demo version for download, so you can try
it out for your self.

on a related note, for anyone that has ever tried to print pictures
at home, using iPhoto, you know how big a pain in the @%$# it can be,
especially if you want prints without borders, or more than one sized
pic on a sheet of paper, i'd also ***highly*** rec.:

Portraits and Prints
http://www.econtechnologies.com/site/Pages/Portraits_Prints/
pnp_overview.html

it even has Iphoto library intergration.

again, well worth the money. You'll make up for it it saved photo
paper in no time.
another program/function that should be a part of iLife/OS X.

and while i'm at it, two more little things that i find extremely
useful.

1. PithHelmet - ad blocking for Safari. http://culater.net/software/
PithHelmet/PithHelmet.php
i had to go two days without it after the latest system upgrade,
while the developer put out a new version, and i thought my head was
going to explode from all the junk ads on the web that i never have
to look at...

2. iPhoto Keyword Assistant - http://homepage.mac.com/kenferry/
software.html
i'm still waiting for an update to give back full functionality after
the Ilife '06 update, but this little iPhoto ad-on makes organizing
and managing your photos *MUCH* easier. This should be standard in
iPhoto, because frankly, its handling of keyword tagging is atrocious.

enjoy,

Rick
