The iBook was purchased new in September and had OS X installed. I
would think it would have the normal print drivers installed, but
maybe not. Where would one look to see if print drivers are installed?

Another oddity: When I run Disk Utility on the iBook with the intent
of repairing permissions, the only options I get are "Erase" and
"Restore" -- no option to verify or repair permissions. I'm running
the iBook logged in as an administrator, so it's not being caused by
lack of administrative privileges.

I'm thinking at this point that I probably will just do an archive
and re-install of OS X on this iBook ... but I'd still like to
understand what would cause these differences.
