Greg: As a retired architect, I have been using VectorWorks, a product of Nametsceck North American. I started with Version 5 many years ago, and am now using version 11. They are trying to get me to update to version 12, but I don't do that much architecture anymore, so I am still with version 12.
Version 12 does very well with a Mac G5, using system 10.3.9, using a 17 inch monitor. If you have never used CAD, it will take you a while to become proficient, but you should be able to get by by reading the instruction book. I am not sure about the exact price, but the company can fill you in on that.
