Hey Folks,

I'm thinking of upgrading my wife's pismo (Powerbook G3 Firewire) so that
she can run Mac OS X. It looks like it could be worth the money (~$125 to
get to 768MB of RAM, ~$125 to get a new hard drive and, if it ends up
being pokey, ~$280 for a 500MHz G4 upgrade).

Here's some questions:

. Can a pismo handle an ATA-6 internal hard drive?

One (and only one) of the ATA-6 hard drives at Other World Computing has
a big warning about how anything before the TiBooks cannot handle
ATA-6's. The same site has hard drive reviews where people praise their
new ATA-6 drives in their pismos.

. Do others think that this is a smart move?

I can imagine that I might be able to find a used iBook for cheap, BUT I
would think that any smaller screen size (under 14") would be a big step
down.

Bill
