Hello Group- I have a G4 Powerbook with 550 MHz/ 256 MB, running 10.3.3. It was getting stuck during the start-up. It would go from the grey pinwheel to the blue screen with the colored pinwheel, but would not proceed pass the 'starting windows login' process. AppleCare helped me try to solve the problem but finally told me to re-install the OS, but to make the choice where I would save all my old files. He advised me that I would lose all my personal settings, but not the programs, etc. (He concluded that I must have had a corrupted file somewhere in the start-up)
Everything that I had on the old system is now in a folder called "previous system". My questions to all ye who know this stuff so much better than me is ... In ITune, do I import the song library from the 'old system' to the new; if I do, then do I delete all the songs in the old. In IPhoto, if I import all the pics from the old to the new, won't I have double the pics? Do I delete the old system Iphoto after I put them in the new? Address book- I haven't touched it yet. Isn't there a way to just use the old file and treat it as new? There's probably a very simple answer to this. If I keep on rambling, I'll stumble on it, but I won't recognize it. As always, I greatly appreciate the help this group always provides. Thanks, Bill Micou | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be May 25.
