I could not find proof on the Apple web site but I have to believe
AppleWorks has spell check.

MSWord X (for Mac) is $229 for new purchase, $109 for upgrade and is a word
processor only vs. AppleWorks $79 a full suite of productivity tools.

You do the math, but please confirm they contain spell check.

As an alternative you might consider Think Free Office, another Mac Office
suite only $49.
