Hi Tom, Appleworks is not a mulit-user application and does not create files that can be open by more than one user at a time whether they exist on a file server or not. Once a file is open, a second user attempting to open the same file should get a dialog box indicating that the file is busy or in use.
You will find that most applications behave this way.
