A friend has an old Power Mac 6100 upgraded with a G3 accelerator card & a 4.3 GB hard drive.
He uses a 1 GB Jaz drive (packaged by APS) for backups. Unfortunately, the Jaz drive has taken to eating cartridges (an expensive taste at about $90/cartridge). He will try to get the Jaz drive repaired, but wants to buy a used SCSI external hard drive in the 3-10 GB range. He can't take advantage of Ultra SCSI or any other wonderful innovations (let alone FireWire or USB), just old plain vanilla SCSI. He would also consider another rewritable cartridge drive, preferably at least 2 GB. Does anyone out there have 1) a used SCSI external HDD in good working order, 3-10 GB, for sale 2) is there anyone(locally or not) who does good work repairing Jaz drives? If you reply to this I will forward your answers to him. I have told him about the good work MacTown does. | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be January 28.
