I have a home network with two Mac's and two PC'S and an HP 1200 printer
with an Ethernet print server. I'm running 10.2.3 on both Macs and
Windows 98 on both PC's. Up until a few days ago I was able to see both
PC's from either Mac and the Mac from at least one PC (one of the PC'S is
my wife's work computer and I don't use it. She is also using VPN (very
private network to connect to work and when she is using vpn her machine
is invisible on the network so it really doesn't play into the situation).
I have a DSL connection going into a linksys router with DHCP configured
automatically. Each machine has been given an IP number 192.168.1.100-105.
I have no problems with the Mac's talking to one another or the PC'S
talking to each other. And until recently the Mac's and my PC could talk
to each other (and I could talk to my wife's PC when she was not
connected to work. I could also talk to my PC from the Mac when my wife
was connected to work). Something has happened and now the Macs cannot
see the PC and the PC cannot see the Macs
>From the finder, I select go --> connect to server. In the window each Mac
is listed by name next to a network icon (globe sitting on a disk drive
icon), The PC no longer appears. Instead I get the network icon and
host102-null instead of the PC'S name. I assume this is the PC because
the last three digits of the PC'S IP address is 102.
When I click on host102-null an error box appears with this message:
Connecting to smb://host102-null.null.bellsouth.net...
An error has occurred (error = -36)
In windows when I select network neighborhood the Macs do not show up.
I have created identities for the PC on my Mac's and have set up the PC
for file sharing.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
