I use the built-in Mail system that comes with OS X. I don't need more 
than one mailbox, since I'm the only one using this computer. It works 
well for me and is free. For more complicated uses, I don't know. I 
also use the built-in Address book; and it will alphabetize by last or 
first names, whichever is set. Mail does have an anti-spam feature, as 
Jerry mentioned. I did use OE on OS 9, but I prefer to use just the OS 
X without all the switching nonsense.
