I'll second, or third or I guess this will be a fourth positive reply
to Susan Chapman's suggestion of "Do you ever have any social
gatherings where we can just talk? No speakers?"

I think a nice Q & A period would be welcomed. There would always be
the understanding that there might not be anyone present with the
answer(s) but we would still probably learn something. Maybe nothing
more than a referral to the person who might know.

I also think it would be nice to have some "workshops" or SIG meetings.
SIG (give me a minute Marta) stands for Special Interest Group. Ina
previous life (when I lived near Cincinnati, I was a member od
AppleSiders of Cincinnati (there Mac User Group). And we had a number
of SIDs. All you need, and we had a great location there (The
International Headquarters of AppleSiders) is a place to meet,
preferably with one or more computers (Macs) AND someone wiling to
serve as the SIG leader. We had (and still do) SIGs on Legacy (Apple II
and Older Macs), Beginners, AppleWorks, Genealogy, Internet, iWeb,
Digital Photography and Digital Video. Periodically interest would
build up wanting a Music SIG (how to make music with the Mac) and
someone with some amount of knowledge would agree to lead one. It would
start off with a "large" attendance and quickly peter out because
making music with the Mac is so easy (if you are musically inclined
(talented) that the previous attendees would be off on their own making
music. We would also occasionally get a Programming Sig going for a
while but then whoever was leading it would graduate from UC and move
on.

Anyway I learned a lot (not that I put all of it to use) and really
enjoyed the time spent. For a while I was even the leader of the
Beginners/AppleWorks SIG. Which shows you that youdont really need an
expert to run one. If you get a few people together with the same
interest, they can teach themselves.
