Or, "Never Believe What You're Told" Okay, this is waaaaayyyyy off topic, but what the heck. I thought I'd share my little adventure with you.
The Jefferson County Government always amazes me. Last week I take my car to the Canons Lane VET. For the first time since the VET's inception, my car doesn't pass. They say the Vapor Recovery System will not hold pressure. So, I take my car to Precision Tune for service. They pressurize the Vapor Recovery System with the same equipment the VET uses. It holds pressure for several hours without a leak. They fill out the form stating that the VRS was checked and is working properly. I go back to the Canons Lane VET. They put the car back on the roller things (even though I was only to prove the VRS was repaired) and they tell me my tailpipe or muffler is leaking and they can't get a reading with the little wand. I fail again. They hand me my original failure notice and I leave. Now, based on the fact that they said the VRS was defective when it wasn't, I decide to visit another VET facility. Where, believe it or not, the car passes with flying colors. Oh, as to the tailpipe issue. The woman at the second VET put the probe in one of the tailpipes where it wouldn't get a reading (just like the Canons Lane VET). So she moved it to the other tailpipe where it worked fine. Just think, we have to put up with this system until next November when the "next big clean air idea" comes around. God help us when the merger hits. Oh, to stay on topic...Macs RULE! The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will be September 24 For more information, see <http://www.aye.net/~lcs>. A calendar of activities is at <http://www.calsnet.net/macusers>.
