Jerry, Thanks for the link to the new security patch. I am copying it here since some interested people may have missed it if they weren't interested in the digital camera string.
David Dudine Well, M$ finally has released patches for IE on the Mac (OS 8/9 and X) for 8/9: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/DOWNLOAD/IE/ie5_classic.asp for X: http://www.microsoft.com/mac/DOWNLOAD/IE/ie5_osx.asp Note: Apple has released a security notice for Windows IE users with QuickTime 5.0.2 warning them of a problem that allows for potential hostile take-overs of the browser while watching QT movies, let your M$ friends know that they need to upgrade the ActiveX control available at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/qtcheck/ or to upgrade QT to version 6.0 available at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ (Actually this IS mostly M$ fault, they changed the way their browsers handled external content --- making everyone use ActiveX controls instead of the old embed tags that we used to use...) Jerry The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will be October 22 For more information, see <http://www.aye.net/~lcs>. A calendar of activities is at <http://www.calsnet.net/macusers>.
