Marta,

I got nervous a while back about not having things backed up and bought
a LaCie HD from Mac Town They come in many sizes with different
capacities. Mine has about 250 GB of storage... probably more than I
actually needed. When my HD went out, it was good to know I had that to
back up anything I might have lost... such as photos, documents, music,
etc.

As it turned out, Ward and his cohort Rick there were able to retrieve
the info on my computer and "clone" it onto the new hard drive they
installed in the iMac. My LaCie back-up hard drive is programmed to
automatically duplicate everything I enter into the computer itself
onto the LaCie as I go. (Get the hook-up and disconnect sequence from
Jerry if you do get one, by the way.)

It is a little matte steel box about 7 and 1/4" deep by 4 and 1/4" wide
and 1 and 1/2 " high... doesn't take up much room, and is compatible
with the appearance of the other things to do with the iMac.

I'd get one, if I were you.

Mike
