Just one word to come to the defense of some folks up there at CompUSA
- no, they hardly know anything in general, I am sure I would make a
better employee , because if I were stumped, I would try to find out so
as to better answer someones's question the next time around. However,
when long ago I bought my first powerbook there, I bought it, because I
received better information from two guys there than from what is known
now as Mactown, then the Complete Mac. In fact, they patiently dealt
with all my questions , over the phone and in person,(and you know I
can ask some!), The Complete Mac was non-helpful- if only that old
woman would stop calling us! But the guys at CompUSA sat with me for
hours, transferred everything from my Performa unto the new T-Book ( no
charge) , they installed all my new software and.. and... In fact, one
of those guys is working for Mactown now, at least was when last I was
in . Maybe I was lucky, maybe I had the persistence it takes, but
still, you may find somebody with some knowledge even at CompUSA. The
fact is, that store ain't better or worse than any of the others whose
sales people do not take any pride in what they are doing. -Lady, you
ask ME ? I just work here . ( translated : I am just around until
quitting time) .Incidentally, whenever I go to Barnes and Noble, i
always stop at CompUSA and make it my special mission, to try to show
the Mac Display to anybody around that is looking at other brands. I
have this special approach, I think I owe it to my Mac, having given me
so much pleasure and knowledge. And the folks actually follow me
willingly, curious why an old lady would want to convince them to buy
a Mac. ( I have no knowledge of whether anybody ever took my advice,
though)
