Jerry, Anne, and others; I've almost got my backup stuff loaded onto my new LaCie HD. It's taking me awhile to get the concept down... I've never tried to back up things before. This is another whole new world. About the time I think I've done it, I discover I'm wrong! I did get my pictures, documents, etc. done tonight. Now I'm trying to figure out how to back up iTunes... that doesn't work for me.
When I try to drag my iTunes folder to my LaCie, I am told (on a little drop-down screen) that I have a firewall up preventing me from sharing my music. I don't want to share it with another computer; I just want to back it up to avoid possibly losing it. Can someone help me by explaining, in beginner's language, how to do this? Is it possible? Jerry helped me with the general idea and confirmed my hook-up is fine; Anne told me tonight that she was pretty sure I hadn't done it right... she was correct. I had decided to just feed it my whole Mac HD at once to make it easy. All I really had stored was a Mac HD alias. So I came home tonight and fed it some individual folders... which is what Jerry had suggested in the first place. (I put in the lazy shortcut on my own.) So, now ... how about iTunes? Hope you-all can help. Thanks. And Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Mike | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be January 25.
