Hey group,

I have an iMac-DV graphite G3-400mHz running OS 10.3 and it no longer
"boots up" when it's turned on. The hard drive makes a
clickatey-claketey sound as it comes on and then it goes to a gray
screen. I've tried using the disk utility by booting from the OSX
install CD to no avail. When I tried DiskWarrior, it recognized only
the DiskWarrior CD. When I clicked on "Hardware", it asks "Choose a
disk device to test" and "Maxtor Meteor" is the only option. When I
then click on "Test device", get this info:

        Starting new test on...
        Device: Maxtor METEOR
        Serial Number: (blank)
        Type: ATA Device (Master)
        When: Thu Apr 1 00:11:04 PST 1976

The hard drive does not have built-in S.M.A.R.T. diagnostics.

        Test completed.

Does this mean the hard drive is dead?

Thanks in advance for your help. I've learned much by reading the
posts on this list for the past couple of years.
