The ROM = read only memory = stuff hardcoded into a memory chip which
allows the Mac to start up. These ROMs are the reason that only Apple
manufactures Macs. I dunno the specifics about the differences between
old world and new world ROMs.

? This is another type of rom.

Blue and White G3, 300MHz. Blue and White is used to distinguish these
from the Beige G3s. The distinction is based on the color of the case,
but there are some differences in the guts.

AGP is a way for driving a display (I think). An AGP G4 is a kind of G4,
tho' I cannot remember the other G4s. For instance, I have an AGP G4 at
home which was bought in March, 2000.

Apple has ways of referring to their machines which typically are rather
obscure. At one point in the past this was not the case - every new
machine had a new number or name (like quadra 650 or quadra 610 or SE/II
or IIci etc.). This was Bad Thing when dealing with the govt. or other
folks who like bids on contracts, because bids often need to specify a
model number, so if the model numbers change all the time, then the
contract is hard to fulfil. If the model numbers stay the same
(Powerbook) then things are easier, except there are then strange
submodels (Lombard, Bronze, Wallstreet etc.)
