Hi John, OS X had some initial issues dealing with dial-up connections but those have been long since resolved. I?ve been using dsl through Telocity since they became available (it seems like four years now but maybe not that long).
Don?t anticipate having any problems with OS X and dsl (aside from Bellsouth problems). It works as prescribed. I?ve been using dsl with OS X since the release of OS X 10.0 without a hitch. Bellsouth?s statement just implies that they don?t know anything about OS X and can?t help you troubleshoot in the event of a problem.
