I'll jump in...

The corporate culture has its own value system, which I fortunately have not
been indoctrinated into.  I would think that the suits and silicon valley
types actually believe it is altursitic to give Intel and Microsoft
computers to school children.  I see it as nothing more than creating future
market share, and gaining a tax deduction.  Why don't they create a fund
that schools can use to buy computer equipment and software of their choice?
The fund should equal the retail value of what they intended to donate.  Now
that would be a public service.

As Oral Roberts used to say,  "Give until it hurts"
