There is a clunky work-around you might try. Most OS-X programs will
allow your to do the following:
1) Under the file menu choose the "Print..." option.
2) Click on the "Preview" button. The Preview app will launch and you
will see a passable version of your document.
3) Choose the "Page Setup.." option from the file menu (of the Preview
program) and make sure that the format for any printer option as your
default choice.
4) Choose "Save As PDF..." option (still in the Preview program) from
under the file menu. Give it a nice name and save it.
5) Fire up an OLD version of Adobe Acrobat Reader. This wil cause
(groan) Classic to start-up and then you can open your saved pdf file
and print it to your Canon printer (or any other one that you have the
OS 9 drivers working).
This works, but in the long run it is easier to get a nice new printer
that has features the older ones are lacking.
