Hi Harry,

Disregarding the variables that one needs to consider when partitioning a
drive (i.e. quantity and type of data and installed applications), there is
one observation about OSX that may help you along.

OSX prefers to have certain applications and data in specific locations
within the OSX volume. If you start to move things or rename things, Watch
Out!

To maintain consistency, store all of your applications and data within your
OSX volume. If you wish some stuff was located elsewhere, create the
appropriate aliases and put them where you want.

I use a slight variation of this general philosophy. I have a relatively
small partition (2GB) set up as my bootable OS 9.x volume (large enough for
your System Folder and diagnostic utilities). I have the rest of my little
20GB drive (18GB) set up for OSX. I also have a second 60GB ATA drive
installed to store my data and non-OSX applications. The use of my second
drive will change over time as more and more of my general use gravitates
towards OSX.

Also, you may want to visit http://www.macosxhints.com/ for further
suggestions. (I'd email robg directly. This guy is a wealth of info.!)

Good Luck,
Ward Oldham
