You could have fun and take new sounds and replace the existing ones.
Right click or hold the Control key down and click on the Mail  
application icon in a Finder window and choose Show Package Contents.
Navigate to /Contents/Resources/ and look for any file ending in .aiff.
Rename that file and put another aiff (audio) file in there with the  
same name. The file you put in there must match the name of the file  
you are replacing.
Now anyone else on that machine will get these sounds and not be the  
wiser.

BTW, I'm just 20 miles North of West Palm Beach and it was 34F here
