Thanks to all who responded: Rick, Russ, Anne, Jerry, Cathy, Brian, perhaps
others. I'm taking a hard look at the Dual Core Intel 17" iMac, suggested
by Russ (and, laterally, Rick). MacMall does seem to have good price and some
"free" goodies. (No free lunch, etc.)

Russ asks what my present Mac isn't doing for me that I need. Actually,
nothing. But I keep encountering new apps and stuff I can't use because my OS
(10.2.8) is so old. Also my iPhoto and iMovie apps are old versions. I've
never installed any upgrades because, frankly, the thought of trying to do it
scares the you-know-what out of me -- and the experiences of many in the Group
bear out my misgivings. Also, never seem to have time for it. Mebbe I need
a tutorial on this from the Group :>) But I view my Mac as I do my car --
I just want my car to get me from one place to another, and I don't want to
spend time looking under the hood. And my past experience with computers
indicates that it's a good idea to buy a new one (when I can afford it) every
three
or four years, if only to keep up with the technology. Even at that, I'm
still way behind -- present Mac has bells and whistles I still don't know how
to
use.

Cathy says AW 6.2.9 runs on her OS 10.3.9 (is that Panther? I can't keep up
with these cats; I think my OS is a Tabby). Well, AW 6.2.9 came with my
Mac, but it required reformating a lot of old files and presented other
problems. I soon discarded it and went back to AW 6.0.4 -- it has macros and
feels
familiar. Newer ain't always better.

Final Q: is Pages available by itself, or only in iWork?

Thanks again for your help, everyone. MacGroup rules.
