Oh, sorry, Marta. I forgot to put the link in! Oops.

It's at:

http://www.gizmoproject.com/

You download the Mac client, and if you know anyone with an internet
phone number (usually called "SIP") you can start calling them for free.

I know no one in this category (that I'm aware of) so I entered a
credit card to add some $$ to my call out account and I get about
1200 domestic minutes for $10. Take THAT BellSouth! Now I can call
California for $.02 a minute. If I call local with it, though, it'll
still be $.02 cents a minute. Unless the other person has a SIP phone
or client and then it's free.

You can also sign up for phone numbers around the country so people
can call you like it's a local call. There's none in Louisville yet,
or anywhere else I might need one, but YMMV.

They also have a store where you can buy SIP phones, headsets and
accessories. There are complete desktop phones that plug right into
your network. They also have adapters that plug between your existing
phone and your router. This stuff you can find many other places on
the 'net, but it's nice to see it all organized like they do there so
you can figure out what you need.
