Hey Folks,

I got Tiger and installed it on my home and work machines.

All went smoothly for the most part. For them that wanna upgrade,
here are the installation differences which are good:
. If you have moved your Users folder to another partition and
symlinked it, the Archive and Install finally realizes it should
leave the symlink alone. Finally.
. Most everything I have still works. This is a relief.
. The install is reasonably fast.

Here are the features which are good:
. All that is advertised (spotlight, automator in particular) except
Mail.
. Did I say spotlight?

Here are differences which are not so good:
. Mail has some serious glitches in it. Not that it loses things,
just that it has some, uh, problems -- slowness for one.
. Mail changed the way to specify paths on remote IMAP servers... the
~/ is assumed now and must be left off.
. iSync no longer syncs with .Mac ... the .Mac syncing is done in
the .Mac preference panel or in an optional menubar button. This is
good and bad. Good because it separates .Mac and syncing to devices.
Bad because it is hard to find for those of us used to The Old Way.

There are some other gotchas for geeky things like emacs, but in
general, things are smoother than I thought.

Bill
