We have 2 file servers divided into 13 network shares that our Macs must connect to every time they boot. To accomplish this we mount all the shares from each server, making sure we have stored the password in they keychain, and then drag them into our start up items in the Accounts system preference. This way our Macs boot with all the shares up and ready to go. The only drawback is that the Mac wants to open a window for each share. By holding down the option key and clicking on the close button we can close all the open windows.
