Interesting story on MIT's Technology Review, about the coming battle between Apple iTunes/iPod against Microsoft's Janus technology (a.k.a. "Plays for Sure"):
http://www.technologyreview.com/articles/05/01/wo/wo_hellweg012505.asp I must admit, I am sometimes jealous of my cube-neighbor's Rhapsody subscription--he can listen to anything he wants at any time. I can only listen to the music I've bought or ripped into my iPod. Does seem tempting to pay a $15 monthly fee to get that kind of music library, especially if this Janus initiative makes it possilbe to save those songs onto my MP3 player. Seems like a frontal assault by Microsoft on the iTunes/iPod success. --- Rex. | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be January 25.
