It is a general security update that Apple recommends for everyone.  
Apple's first version of it was flawed, not just with Mathematica,  
but with any program that uses the G5 as a 64 bit processor. They  
think the bug in the update is fixed and I've installed it with no  
adverse reaction--so far.
