Hi Dan,

Did you read the tech doc. for setting your finder preferences? (open new
windows in column view?).

I tried your sequence and it does work for new windows opened in the
Finder (using Apple-N). However, it doesn't work for my hard drive. No
matter what I try, when I double-click it after a shut down, restart or
log-out, it reverts to icon view -- and it won't even hold a particular
icon arrangement.
