Uh, do you mean an icon that looks like a upward facing triangle with a 
line across the bottom?
If so, then this means you have a disk image mounted (probably the one 
you used to install the software with). The trash turning into this 
means it is asking you if you want to eject the mounted disk. It is 
okay to go head and do so as you are now finished with it.
(The disk will remain mounted until you eject it or restart the 
machine.)

p.s. One the other hand if it really looks like a CD, then that is a 
new one.
