Hi Suzanne!
I'm not sure what may have caused it in the first place, but you may
want to try the following:
1. Click on the blue apple in the upper left of the screen
2. click on System Preferences
3. click on the Dock icon
From here you should see many options including a checkbox for
'Automatically hide and show the Dock' --if it is checked, uncheck it.
