Do you have to manually assign IP numbers to the machines? (I am
assuming for the discussion that your machines still see each other
through the LAN you have set-up.)
If not, try to have them connect via DHCP server without any other info
being entered (no gateway numbers etc.).
Also, you mentioned that the OS-X machine connects. In the preferences
for that one, you can tell it to share its internet connection with the
others (a last option but should work).
