Hey y'all! My stepson was getting bothered because it seems that the UofL sports broadcasts over the web (which are handled by Yahoo!) seem to be available only in Windoze Mediocre Player (aka Windows Media Player) format. I'm wondering if it is some sort of a setting or plugin recognition problem.
Could somebody do me a favor and go to http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/scoreboard/ and see if they get any other choice than Windoze Mediocre Player at 28.8Kb for listening to, say, the Ga. Tech-Maryland audio? What an annoyance if this is really the only choice. BTW: he looked at the site using Netscape 4.7x with RealPlayer 7 (or maybe 8) already installed under Mac OS 9.1. I looked at the site using OmniWeb 4.1.1 and Internet Exploder 5.2 with RealOne Player under Mac OS X 10.2.1. I poked around the site and it looked like RealPlayer was grayed out for every game - I just don't know if the problem is the streaming format, or the way that the silly Media Helper (TM, of course) is detecting what I can handle. Thanks, Bill The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will be October 22 For more information, see <http://www.aye.net/~lcs>.
