Hi Charlie,

The link below leads to an eMac technical spec sheet for your reference.
http://www.apple.com/emac/specs.html

It tells you that if your eMac came with a combo drive, you are able to burn
CD-R media at a maximum of 12X speed. If your eMac came with a superdrive,
you are able to burn CD-R media at a maximum of 8X speed.

For your most cost effective purchase, buy media on the spindle, 50 or 100
per spindle. You can purchase sleeves or jewel cases separately. You will
find CD-R media rated for their maximum burn speed so depending on which
drive you have in your eMac, buy media rated at that burn speed or faster.

Also, I would avoid buying CD-RW. While they may be rewriteable, the catch
is you can't burn them faster than 4X. While you may hear comments
regarding CD-RW high speed rated media, avoid these as they may pose
unforeseen compatibility problems.

Have Fun!
